I’m not sure why, but anytime I walk up and start waiting for an elevator to arrive, I feel compelled to push the up or down button – even if there is already someone waiting there and the appropriate button is already illuminated. Why is that? I mean, I can see that the elevator is coming, so why do I feel like I have to push it again?
I also push the “Walk” button at a crosswalk multiple times, as though it will make the sign say “Walk” any faster. I guess I just need to jaywalk more.

Maybe you're a control freak? Or just always think you're in a huge hurry?
uh, no offense here...and i can say this because we share the same gene pool and i'm guilty of it too...that's due to 1/8 ocd and 7/8 IMPATIENCE. but it's kind of satisfying to keep pushing the buttons because you feel like you have some sort of power that way, huh? no one really cares...i say keep pushing the buttons unnecessarily. why not?
I am SO guilty of walk-button over-pushing. I think that if I trick the stop light into thinking that 38 people are waiting for the little white walking man to appear that it will feel pressure to hurry up.
Don't feel bad. I do the multiple button-pushing thing too. Plus, I can't even do elevators 'cause I'm so claustrophobic.
